Welcome to the Foundation Training Program by Fearless Horsemanship, where we embark on the essential journey to transform your horse into a reliable and trustworthy human companion. This crucial phase, commonly referred to as “breaking in” or “starting,” bridges the gap between the horse’s innate instincts and our human expectations. Horses were not naturally designed for riding, but through conscientious and skillful training, they can learn to become willing and attentive partners. Without this fundamental training, horses may revert to their prey instincts and associate human guidance and handling with predator-like threats. This misunderstanding can manifest as undesirable and sometimes dangerous behavior during groundwork and riding.

Our Foundation Training Program is carefully designed to convey to your horse that collaboration with humans and riding is an enrichment in their daily lives. Throughout this process, your horse will willingly develop trust and respect towards humans as their natural leaders and partners. Subsequently, your companion will acquire excellent skills in using basic riding equipment, essential groundwork exercises, riding techniques, and the art of trail riding.
